Class Details

The Minecraft Education Coding Club is designed for students who are looking to learn the fundamentals of programming inside of a familiar context. Students familiar with Scratch programming will find this as an easy transition – as Scratch and MakeCode are both block-based programming languages. Students will use their newfound programming knowledge to solve challenges, create minigames, and showcase their work to each other in a multiplayer server.

Minecraft Programming allows MakeCode to be converted to and from Python in a single click, so students will get an early exposure to a more “grown up” programming language, and even be given the opportunity to write some early Python programming in the latter weeks of the program.

Minecraft Programming also supports “agents”, which are in-game robots which the students can program to do tasks. This will give students a basic exposure to automation / artificial intelligence.

Students will be taught by friendly and professional coding instructors from Codekids Perth. They will learn these future-proof skills in a fun and educational environment.

To master the visual-based programming, we recommend that students study at the club for one year, or until they are ready to move on to the text-based programming.
