The MakeCode Coding Club (ages 7-12) is a Codekids-designed After-School program for WA schools. The program supports the development of personal connections to computing by drawing upon students’ creativity and interests. It also lays a solid foundation for students to learn an advanced programming languages. The program uses the curriculum which is designed by Microsoft.
What is MakeCode?
The MakeCode program brings computer science to life for all students with fun projects, immediate results. Microsoft MakeCode Arcade is a retro 2D online game development environment. With a few blocks or lines of code, you can create your own custom games for others to play. MakeCode offers a versatile array of applications, extending beyond animations and games to encompass hardware programming for microcontrollers and robots.

Computational thinking is the step that comes before programming. It’s the process of breaking down a problem into simple enough steps that even a computer would understand.
